Statement
From an early age Serena began to exhibit her paintings and drawing, and has exhibited in London, Scotland and Yorkshire. She has spent the last 15years living on the edge of Dartmoor.
Serena’s subject matter is a series of snap shots of “what is going on around her” here in Devon. The weather and atmosphere of the moors is as varied perhaps as the people who live here.
Interestingly Serena appreciates that the lifestyle of people has a direct influence on the shape and character of their surroundings and visa versa (a persons surroundings influence their spirit, expression and appearance.) Serena can often be seen painting on Dartmoor, working directly from her subjects, rather than in a studio situation. Similarly she is well known by Exeter Livestock Market as a regular visitor, sketch book in hand.
